Quartier Putain
Oudekerksplein 4, 1012 GZ Amsterdam, The Netherlands
There is probably no better name for a specialty coffee bar - café in the middle of the red light district. But actually it owe this name to Drs. P. He wrote a song called "Quartier Putain" in which he paid an ode to the ladies in the Red Light District. Until just before his death, he came every Sunday for a coffee at Quartier Putain. The square behind the church where Quartier Putain is located is therefore unofficially called the Drs. P. Square. The original founders, with their music background, found this very appropriate. The current owners have therefore kept this name.
